EuroCC project
“EuroCC – National Competence Centres in the framework of EuroHPC” is a project implemented under the European Union’s H2020 programme, in which all participating countries are in charge of setting up National Centres of Competence (NCCs) in the field of High Performance Computing (HPC) in their respective countries. The National Competence Centres will coordinate activities at national level in all areas related to HPC and will serve as the main interface for users in science, industry, current and future HPC professionals and the general public. The EuroCC project is 50% co-financed through the H2020 programme (EuroHPC Joint Undertaking) and 50% through the Partner Countries’ own contribution.
The project, which involves 34 Members and Associate Members, is coordinated by HLRS – The High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart. The goal of the project is to increase the level of use of HPC, HPDA and AI technologies in the participating countries. For this purpose, national competence centres will be set up, responsible for reviewing and documenting core competences in the areas of HPC, HPDA and AI. The goal is to enable the use of HPC by different target user groups, ranging from science, industry, public administration and society at large.
The Slovenian National Competence Centre participates in the EuroCC project as a consortium of 10 SLING partners, led by the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia. The project’s other partners are Arctur d.o.o., Faculty of Information Studies, Institute of Information Sciences, Institute “Jožef Stefan”, Institute of Chemistry, Ministry of Public Administration, University of Ljubljana, University of Maribor and University of Nova Gorica.
The project runs from 1st September 2020 to 31st August 2022.
